The end, and the beginning

If I want it to rain, I should wash my car. And if I want cool weather, I should pack away all my warm clothing. This is indeed what has happened to me year after year living in Cape Town. Yesterday I put away my electric blanket. Sure enough, a massive wind storm brought in chilling cold and rain. Oh, and of course I also washed my car yesterday.

My year of productivity is almost over. I can barely recall the months. There’s more to do as you get older, so time appears to pass faster. At least that’s what I’ve read about the changing perception of time as you age. We have 15 days until the last quarter of 2025. The last 6 months barely registered as they whizzed by. Winter crept in and then punished us. We had week after week of cold front upon cold front. Suddenly, on September 1st, the sun came out. And the next day, again and again. We were lulled into believing Spring had arrived and the sun had come along for the ride for a whole 2 weeks! Today, winter came back, as if to say, “You thought I was gone, didn’t ya!”

Tomorrow I will be back in my rain boots and jacket. Layered up with thermals, scarf and coat. Fighting the puddles and traffic. Life is a series of circles. Nothing is created. Nothing is destroyed. It all moves from one form to another. It is ever changing, every moving, like a river. Meandering to it’s end. Or to a new beginning.
